Timely weaning of lambs is a turning point for lambs to transition from relying on breast milk to independent living. This is the biggest period of change in lamb life and also a crucial step in nurturing lambs. Improper feeding and management during this stage can often lead to weight loss and even death of lambs, so it is necessary to frequently use sheep for B-ultrasound examination.

Lambs with good growth and development are usually weaned around 3 months after birth, at which point they have been trained to consume a large amount of green vegetables. At present, the commonly used weaning method is to separate the ewe and lamb at once and no longer group them together. After weaning, the sheep should be herded in groups to strengthen feeding, increase the frequency of drinking water or drink soybean milk, and continue to feed a certain amount of concentrate. For weaned ewes, B-ultrasound should be used to regularly check the breasts. If any abnormal conditions are found, timely measures should be taken to deal with them.

Strict prevention and treatment of lamb diseases: Lambs have weak resistance to diseases and are prone to illnesses such as colds and dysentery. Therefore, in feeding and management, it is necessary to observe the appetite, feces, and mental state of lambs, and promptly treat any diseases detected by B-ultrasound examination. If the lamb is found to have fluffy fur, flat belly, arching and chirping, and low spirits, it indicates that the lamb is not full or has symptoms of illness. For common diseases such as lamb dysentery and diarrhea, tetracycline, sulfonamide, and furan drugs can be used for prevention and treatment.

Pay attention to the supplementation and exercise of lambs. In order to promote rapid development of lambs, relying solely on ewe milk is not enough, and early supplementation is necessary. Goats have strong adaptability, lambs are lively, and for 3-5 days after birth, if the weather is good, they can bask in the sun outside the sheep house. After a week, they can graze with the ewes. Grazing not only provides nutritious grass, but also allows for sufficient sunlight and exercise, which is beneficial for the health and development of lambs. It is also important to regularly use sheep ultrasound to check their condition.
