Abnormal forelimb posture in cows may be due to a lack of proper response from the fetus to delivery, as observed by B-ultrasound, insufficient opening of the neck opening, or excessive contraction. It is divided into wrist flexion, shoulder elbow flexion, shoulder flexion, and foot top position, among which wrist flexion is more common. The operation plan should be carried out after observing with bovine B-ultrasound.

Wrist joint flexion. When the wrist joint of a sick cow is flexed, a front hoof can be seen on the vulva. Bilateral, with both front hooves not extending out of the birth canal. A birth canal examination can be performed by palpating the normal fetal head and wrist joint with one or two flexed forelimbs, and combined with a B-ultrasound examination of the cow.

Depending on the degree of flexion, the following methods can be used: the surgeon uses an obstetric brace to lower the fetus between the chest and the non aligned limb, and hands it over to an assistant to push the fetus in. At this time, the surgeon holds the palm of the flexed limb with their hand, trying to push it inward and lift it up as much as possible, and then slides down to grasp the hoof and pull it into the birth canal. The surgeon uses a single rope to wrap around the tie or a rope guide to bring the rope into the uterus and wrap it around the tie. The surgeon pulls the rope with one hand, pushes the upper part of the metacarpal bone upwards and inwards with the other hand, and pulls the tie rope with the other hand. When the rope reaches a certain level, the other hand can switch hands to pull the hooves and work together to pull the forelimbs.

When the fetus is small and difficult to correct, cows can use ultrasound observation to push the flexed wrist joint back into the uterus as much as possible, causing it to become shoulder joint flexed, and then pull the head and normal limbs, which may also be able to pull the fetus out. If the fetal death or bent wrist joint is squeezed in the birth canal and cannot be pulled out, the wrist joint can be cut off. The method is to use a rope guide to guide the saw blade into the birth canal or uterus, wrap it around the flexed wrist joint, and use a wire saw operation to cut it. First, remove the cut part, then wrap the broken end, and then pull out the fetus.
